The group and I just got back from Israel a couple days ago and though we are still suffering a bit from jet lag, the overall conclusion is that the trip was amazing. God revealed Himself and His Word in incredible ways and I want to take this episode to quickly debrief the trip and discuss eight things I personally learned or was reminded of throughout the trip.

8 Things I Learned (or was reminded of) From My Trip to Israel
- Trips are far more fun with people you know and love
- Falafel is aways better in the Middle East
- Living with 33 other people for two weeks creates an abundance of inside jokes
- Everything happened somewhere – and sometimes those locations are incredibly important (see Psalm 63 below)
- Context is crucial in understanding Scripture – historical, cultural, geographical
- Pray for the Jews, who are lost in ritual and bondange, and who desperately need Jesus the Messiah
- God has been orchestrating everything from the beginning to focus on Jesus Christ and His incredible work on the cross
- The tomb is empty – Christ is risen from the dead!
Psalm 63 (written by David from the desert of Judah)
O God, You are my God;
Early will I seek You;
My soul thirsts for You;
My flesh longs for You
In a dry and thirsty land
Where there is no water.
Because He Lives
Because He lives, I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives, all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future,
And life is worth the living,
Just because He lives!
