SinceMyEyes

The last few weeks have been incredibly busy. At Ellerslie Mission Society we have been preparing and launching our new (and improved) Advanced Training program. So between finishing off our Winter/Spring basic program, graduation, and launching the new program, my schedule has been full (thus the lack of blog posts in the last couple weeks … sorry).

There has been a song that has captured me as of late and I’ve been humming, singing, and pondering it throughout my days. One particular line has continued to cause pause with a whispered “wow” uttering forth from my lips:

Since my eyes were fixed on Jesus, I’ve lost sight of all besides.

Isn’t that a great line?!?

It reminds me of the song “Turn Your Eyes Upon Jesus” in which declares “and the things of earth will grow strangely dim in the light of His glory and grace.”

There is something about fixing our eyes upon Jesus that changes everything. Problems are no longer seen as problems when we stare at Him. It’s not that the problems go away but suddenly we realize that He is more than capable and this too comes under His feet (authority). Temptations lose their power in light of Him. Worry and anxiety dissipate when He is seen. Why wouldn’t we be fixated and captured by Him every moment of every day?

We think we can handle something and therefore we focus upon it. Instead what if we never lost sight of Christ? What if He was the center of our affection and attention? What if He was our one desire, our one passion, the very One who was in our eye? Wouldn’t that change everything about our life? Yes it would.

Would you and I fix our eyes on Jesus today? No matter what it is you find yourself in the middle of, working on, or doing, allow your mind to be captured by Jesus. Allow Him to stamp eternity upon your eyeballs, viewing life from an eternal perspective – you’ll quickly find that Jesus alone is what matters.

Song: All for Jesus

All for Jesus, all for Jesus!
All my being’s ransomed pow’rs:
All my thoughts and words and doings,
All my days and all my hours.

Refrain
All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
All my days and all my hours;
All for Jesus! All for Jesus!
All my days and all my hours.

Let my hands perform His bidding,
Let my feet run in His ways;
Let my eyes see Jesus only,
Let my lips speak forth His praise.

Since my eyes were fixed on Jesus,
I’ve lost sight of all beside;
So enchained my spirit’s vision,
Looking at the Crucified.

Oh, what wonder! How amazing!
Jesus, glorious King of kings,
Deigns to call me His beloved,
Lets me rest beneath His wings.
