5 Important Reminders During the Busy and Crazy Seasons of Life

Deeper Christian Podcast • Episode 292

We all go through busy (and/or crazy) seasons at some point in our lives.

When we face such seasons, how do we survive, and better yet thrive, in Jesus during those times?

Here are five important reminders that we all need during those busy or crazy seasons of life …

1. Beware of Barrenness

Corrie ten Boom once said, “Beware the barrenness of a busy life.”

2. God’s mercies are new every morning

Hesed in the Hebrew gives the idea of “lovingkindness” or “steadfast love” or “mercy.” The concept, beautifully stated by Michael Card, “when the person from whom I have a right to expect nothing gives me everything.”

God describes His nature as hesed in Exodus 34:6-7 … and Jeremiah declares, “This I will return to my heart; therefore I will wait in hope. The lovingkindness [hesed] of Yahweh indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness. ‘Yahweh is my portion,’ says my soul, ‘Therefore I wait for Him'” (Lamentations 3:21-24).

As Psalm 117 declares, “Praise Yahweh, all nations; Laud Him, all peoples! For His lovingkindness [hesed] prevails over us, And the truth of Yahweh is everlasting. Praise Yah!”

3. God IS our peace

God doesn’t merely give us peace in our circumstances; He IS our peace. He doesn’t give us a pill called “peace” but becomes everything we need for life and godliness (see 2 Peter 1:3).

Regardless of your pressure, busyness, and craziness of life, Jesus (who is peace itself, see Ephesians 2:14) wants to be the Prince of Peace within your life through His indwelling Holy Spirit.

4. Let everything push you to Jesus

Paul exhorts us in Philippians 4:4 to rejoice in ALL things. He goes on and says that nothing in our lives should cause anxiety; rather, everything in our lives should drive us to Jesus in prayer (4:6). “And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7).

5. Guard your intimacy with Jesus

Busy seasons have the tendency to cause us to be distracted and throw off the important core (kernel) elements like our time with God (time in the Word, time in prayer, time in fellowship with other believers, etc), time with family, exercise, overall health, etc.

But these are the things that we should guard the most during busy and crazy seasons — especially our time and intimacy with Jesus.

What if the busy seasons of life actually caused us to grow more, deepen more, and have greater relationship and intimacy with Jesus? That’s His heart and desire for us.

Regardless of the season you are in, let us leverage it to grow in Christ, be conformed to His image, and deepen in the richness of His Word and life.
