As Christians we shouldn’t just know about God but actually know Him—but knowing about Him is important.
Learning about God’s attributes, His character, and His nature becomes important to understand Who He is, why we can trust Him, and to build our confidence in His overwhelming-unchanging character and faithfulness.
One of the great Christian classics on God’s attributes is AW Tozer’s book The Knowledge of the Holy. As Tozer once said: “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” It is vital to have a correct view and understanding of Who He.
Throughout the pages of this short but powerful book, Tozer examines several key attributes of God and how they affect our lives, such as:
- God’s Wisdom
- God’s Faithfulness
- God’s Goodness
- God’s Justice
- God’s Mercy
- God’s Grace
- God’s Holiness
- God’s Love
- God’s Sovereignty
- God’s “Omnis”: omnipotence, omnipresence, omniscience
- and many more
If you’ve never read Tozer, this is a great one to start with as it will show you his heart in calling all believers to behold our God. Regardless, it is a powerful enunciation of the greatness, grandeur, and glory of our great God!
