One of my favorite little books is called They Found the Secret by V. Raymond Edman.
Containing 20 short biographies of men and women who experienced what Hudson Taylor called “the exchanged life” – or as I often say “the deeper Christian life.”
Each of these godly men and women was brought to the end of themselves so they could discover the fullness and supremacy only found in Christ. While not officially a “secret” this truth of surrender, abiding, and dependence is often neglected in the modern church but is the foundation for abundant living.
Through short biography sketches, Edman reminds us that “the details of their experience of the crisis of the deeper life are delightfully different, yet their testimony to the reality of the joy and power of the Spirit-filled life is unanimous . . . It is [the Lord] who satisfies the longing soul. He is the secret of the exchanged life!”
This is one of those books that I return to again and again for I love the testimonies and lives of such figures as Andrew Murray, Hudson Taylor, Amy Carmichael, Oswald Chambers, John Bunyan, Samuel Brengle, Major Ian Thomas, and many others.
So this month I am delighted to give away a copy of They Found the Secret to five people.
Here is who won last month’s book giveaway …
