Nearly every Christian I know has found tremendous blessing, joy, and encouragement in the Psalms. This collection of poetry, songs, and wrestlings has something for everyone. Though David wrote nearly half of them (73 of the 150), individuals like Moses, Asaph, Solomon, and a few others we don’t often recognize are also included in the author list.
In the mid-1800s, Charles Sprugeon (often considered the “Prince of Preachers”), wrote a commentary on every verse in the Psalms. Writing and polishing his work over a large portion of his ministry, Spurgeon released a multi-volume set called The Treasury of David.
Even to this day, The Treasury of David has been a go-to resource for pastors, those who long to gain greater insight from the Psalms, and those who love the writing of Spurgeon. In this three-volume set, Spurgeon not only opens up the depth of the Psalms with his winsome and sharp discourse but also uses quotes and insights from his contemporaries and Puritan expositors from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries—making this a rich collection of insight on the Psalms.
