In the book of Daniel, King Nebuchadnezzar erected a gold image and decreed that all the people must bow down and worship it, and anyone who refused would be killed by being thrown into a fiery furnace. From the earthly realm, this was an impossible scenario for the true worshippers of God.
What an opportunity to give into fear and compromise…but 3 men of God REFUSED. The king questioned these men and gave them the options and consequences once more. And this time, the king finished his threat by taunting them with this: “And who is the god who will deliver you out of my hands?” (Daniel 3:15b)
Doesn’t this sound just like the voice of Satan? He tries to cripple us with fear and cause us to doubt the earth-shattering power of Almighty God. But their response was: “…If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.” (Daniel 3:17-18)
They knew that the Lord may choose to not deliver them, but they knew that HE COULD. Either way, their faith was unshaken by the circumstances they faced, because they knew that no earthly power (not even a king) could shake the Almighty in ANY way.
There is so much taking place in our world that is tempting us to give into fear and to doubt the power of our God. As countless people today give into the lies and deception of Satan, DO NOT BOW DOWN WITH THEM! THIS is the exact time when the people of God are to live differently and be unshakable because OUR GOD IS UNSHAKABLE! If we as believers give up now, who else do you think will stand up for truth and intercede for those who do not yet have a living HOPE? This is a time of spiritual battle, and we are NOT to be of those who shrink back in fear. I do not know the outcome of our global scenarios…but one thing I do know. THERE IS NOTHING IMPOSSIBLE WITH OUR GOD! He wants to know who His true children are, and who will really remain steadfast unto Him in the midst of a shaking world.
