Over the next several episodes, I want to talk about ten ways that will help you grow spiritually, deepen your intimacy with Jesus, and practically live the authentic Christian life.
When we know God’s unchanging faithfulness, it enables us to live with greater trust, hope, and confidence in our God and His Word. In order for us to walk by faith (the action of belief), we must stand sure on the character and nature of God.
In this episode, we discuss how knowing God’s faithfulness strengthens and deepens our faith, and in turn, grows our spiritual lives.

We are called to live by faith
- Hebrews 11:6 – And without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who draws near to God must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him.
- Hebrews 11:1 – Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.
- In the New Testament, “faith” and “belief” is the same word (“believe” is a verb, “faith” is a noun) – so when you do the action of believing
- Is my hope, trust, confidence in God and His Word? Am I willing to risk everything on Him and His Word even if everything in the natural says otherwise?
Our faith is built upon God’s faithfulness
- God is Faithful – He is constant, unchanging, steadfast, unmovable, resolute, sure … He is faithful
- In Hebrew, faith, faithfulness, belief, and truth are all interconnected and come from same root word (אָמַן – ‘āman – related to our word “amen”). Faithfulness conveys the idea of “strengthen,” “support,” or “hold up.” The concept gives the sense of “firmness,” “constancy,” or “trustworthiness” with the notion to firmly support as the bedrock for faith. In other words, to be faithful is to be reliable so as to be depended upon. As a physical example, this word is used for the pillars (doorposts) that support the doors in the temple (see 2 Kings 18:16). Spiritually, it bespeaks of God’s unchanging character, nature, and promises.
- Deuteronomy 7:9 – “You shall know therefore that Yahweh your God, He is God, the faithful God, who keeps His covenant and His lovingkindness to a thousand generations with those who love Him and keep His commandments …
- Lamentations 3:21–23 – This I will return to my heart; therefore I will wait in hope. The lovingkindnesses of Yahweh indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is Your faithfulness.
- Isaiah 49:7b – Because of Yahweh who is faithful, the Holy One of Israel who has chosen You.
- 2 Timothy 2:13 – If we are faithless, He remains faithful, for He cannot deny Himself.
- 1 Thessalonians 5:24 – Faithful is He who calls you, who also will do it.
Jesus, the Faithful and True
- Revelation 1:5a – … Jesus Christ, the faithful witness, the firstborn of the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth.
- Revelation 3:14 – This is what the Amen, the faithful and true Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God, says …
- Revelation 19:11 – Then I saw heaven opened, and behold, a white horse, and He who sits on it is called Faithful and True …
We must remember that God has been faithful in the past which means He will continue to be faithful into the present and future. Therefore I can trust Him, obey Him, and live by faith (belief).
As you read through Scripture, I encourage you to watch for God’s faithfulness. Read Hebrews 11 and freshly see how God was faithful and how His people responded to Him in faith. Read Christian biographies and be reminded that God is always faithful.
