March 2015 Book Giveaway

1503Book-Chambers Bio

One of my favorite people from Christian history is Oswald Chambers. His inquisitive and insightful personality along with the incredible way God used his life, causes a warm kinship whenever I read his writings. In many respects, I feel as if Chambers is an old friend I get to have a cup of tea with as he talks about the deeper things of the Christian life.

Oswald Chambers was an artist, teacher, preacher, author, and a true man of God. His writing is infused with an intellectual depth, but with such simplicity it is easy to wade within its waters. He was a loving husband and father, had a lighthearted and winsome personality, and had a seriousness about the Word of God which influenced his desire to train others in the truth of the Gospel.

Many of you will recognize Oswald Chambers’ name from his popular devotional My Utmost for His Highest. And while this title remains one of the most popular yearly devotionals ever written, it is actually a collection of his sermons and writings that his wife put together after Chambers’ death in 1917.

While many of us have likely read (at least portions of) My Utmost, few of us know the man behind the words. David McCasland has written a powerful biography recounting the Scottish heritage of Chambers to his untimely death in Egypt. Oswald Chambers: Abandoned to God is a stirring account of Chamber’s life that I often read each year and can’t recommend highly enough.

This month I’m giving away 3 copies.

Many Christians feel frustrated because they don’t grow spiritually. We equip Christians to understand the Word of God and cultivate a passionate love for Jesus that turns the world upside down.

This ministry is maintained by the Lord through the stewardship of those who value it.
