I’m a sucker for a good story. Especially one that stirs my soul and presses my gaze upon Christ.
I first read Randy Alcorn’s book Safely Home years ago, but it is one that often comes to mind and several scenes remain vivid to this day.
The basic storyline is two college friends—one is an unbeliever living the comfortable American life while the other is a believer facing fierce persecution in China—who reconnect after a couple decades. Their lives become intertwined and difficult decisions are made that remind us, the readers, of the hardships facing the Persecuted Church but also to live in light of eternity.
