Leonard Ravenhill used to love recommending books on the Christian life that stirred him personally—books without the fluff and fizz of modern culture. One such book he loved on prayer was David McIntyre’s classic The Hidden Life of Prayer.

Similar to EM Bounds’ powerful book Power Through Prayer, McIntyre’s book is short but abounding with treasure after treasure on prayer. He argues that secret prayer is the heart and life of every Christian. Using examples from Charles Spurgeon, George Müller, George Whitefield, Martin Luther, and John Wesley, MyIntyre urges readers to give themselves more fully to God in prayer.

Personally, I love this book and it ranks among my favorites on prayer.

If you desire a deeper and more passionate relationship with God in prayer, The Hidden Life of Prayer needs to be on your reading list.

This month I am excited to give away David McIntyre’s classic The Hidden Life of Prayer to five people.
