Reuben Archer Torrey (RA Torrey) known as a powerful evangelist, pastor, Bible scholar, and writer, lived from 1856–1928. Working closely with DL Moody, Torrey eventually oversaw Moody Bible Institute and pastored at Moody Church in Chicago. Like Moody, RA Torrey traveled throughout the world holding revival and evangelistic meetings, and is most known for his 40+ published books.
One such volume is considered by many to be a classic work on prayer that every Christian needs to read: The Power of Prayer. In under two hundred pages, RA Torrey examines questions such as:
- What is prayer and how do I do it?
- Why pray?
- What interferes with prayer?
- How to overcome hindrances to prayer?
As it was said about the book: “No other book so clearly outlines the positives of prayer, the prerequisites to prayer, the purpose of prayer, or the power of prayer.”
