C.T. Sudd once declared, “If Jesus Christ be God and died for me, then no sacrifice can be too great for me to make for Him.”
While in itself a great statement, this can certainly be a good description of the life of Paul Hattaway as recorded in his autobiography An Asian Harvest.
Growing up in New Zealand, most people didn’t think Paul would amount to much. In fact, by age 16 he left home and lived on the roof of a public bathroom in Australia—homeless, hungry, but searching. Though his high school principal called him “a waste of oxygen,” God had great plans in store for this young man.
Not only did God radically transform his life as a young man (and his conversion is quite the story in itself), but his call to Asia is soul-stirring and exciting to read.
God has used Paul Hattaway (now in his 50s) to minister all over Asia, support thousands of indigenous Asian missionaries, and deliver tens of millions of Bibles to Christians all throughout China, Laos, Vietnam, Bangladesh, India, Thailand, and many other Asian countries.
This is one of those modern missionary stories that is reminiscent of the great missionaries of the past like Hudson Taylor, Amy Carmichael, C.T. Studd, Gladys Aylward, Brother Andrew, and the like.
If you want to be stirred afresh in your faith about what a life given to Jesus Christ looks like, this biography is a must read.
So this month, I am delighted to give away a copy of Paul Hattaway’s autobiography to eight people.
