Don’t waste the Coronavirus!

As the world continues to live in the panic of pandemic and the horror of health, may we as Christians not waste this season!

Unlike ever before in our lifetimes, we have been given an opportunity—and how you invest in this opportunity will determine how spiritually strong you are when we get through this Corona crisis.

How to take advantage of this opportunity

Most of us have some extra time on our hands. While a few are working more than ever before, the majority seem to be lounging around looking for something to do.

So take this opportunity and leverage it for your spiritual growth. Here are a few ideas …

1. Family Time

Rather than get lost in Netflix, consider reading books together, playing board games, sharing memories, or go for a walk. Invest in the people God has blessed you with. While we may not be the Little House on the Prairie, we can learn something from how the Ingalls spent time together.

2. Pray

Leonard Ravenhill rightly said, “No man is greater than his prayer life.” We can all grow in the School of Prayer, and this is a great season to do so with so many needs in our world. Ask God for His burdens and set time aside to not just pray, but “praying till you pray” as AW Tozer called it.

3. Study the Bible

What a great time to dive into God’s Word even more. Choose a topic or a book, saturate within its pages, allow God to reveal His truth to you, and be transformed and renewed.

4. Read a Good Book

I love a good book and with the extra time, grab something fun or edifying (or both!) and discover what CS Lewis meant by, “You can’t get a cup of tea big enough or a book long enough to suit me.”

5. Discover a New Hobby

What a fun time to learn something new, pick up an old hobby, or discover a new one. I’ve pulled out my paints and started tossing some on a canvas. What about you?

6. Learn to Laugh

Wisdom tells us “A joyful heart is good medicine …” and “A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance …” (Proverbs 17:22 ESV and 15:13 NKJV). So what better time than a crisis to find every little reason to smile, laugh, and have a merry joy-filled heart.

Know I’m standing with you and praying for you, especially during this season.
